JT have increased the cost to call some international destinations from a landline for both residential and business customers.
In the past, JT have offered varying prices for calls to each country, ranging from seven pence per minute for some of the more commonly called destinations such as Portugal, Australia and USA to over 200 pence per minute for some of the more remote destinations. From 27 June 2025, the charges are now moving to a single 45 pence per minute cost for all international destinations.
So, while that is good news for some, it will impact others.
You can find out how much you will be charged on the JT website , where it shows the new call charges for residential customers.
If you are making regular calls for business or to family and friends, make sure you are aware of the price increase, so that when your next bill arrives there isn't a shock.
What can you do?
Shop around – See if there are better deals to be had by other providers.
Think about other options such as WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom or FaceTime rather than making a traditional telephone call – you will need WiFi or data for these.
For businesses, there are mobile VoIP services that enable calling to international phone numbers at cheap rates – this also needs WiFi.
If you are unsure about your bill and need advice on calling costs, get in touch with JT on 882882 or chat to someone on their website: Contact JT International

When we started planning how to mark the Jersey Consumer Council’s 30th anniversary, we faced a choice. We could have done what many organisations do at such milestones: host a dinner, raise a glass, and look back fondly at our achievements.
At our Consumer Fair on 19 and 20 September, we found that several Islanders were worried about the new travel policies coming in from October for travellers to European countries.
We've looked into this issue and here's what you need to know.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Jersey Consumer Council – three decades spent standing up for Islanders, challenging unfairness, and giving consumers a voice.
It’s a milestone we're proud of, but rather than throwing a party to celebrate ourselves, we asked a simple question: how can we give something back?
The Jersey Consumer Council is proud to be celebrating 30 years of championing Islanders’ rights by hosting its first Consumer Fair on 19 and 20 September at St Helier Town Hall.
With a wide range of exhibitors confirmed, the two-day event promises to be a valuable, engaging, and empowering event for Islanders of all ages.
