From 1 July 2025, Islanders will receive a new £10 Government subsidy for appointments with nurses, pharmacists, paramedics, healthcare assistants, and for GP consultations by phone.
This subsidy does not apply to face-to-face GP appointments.
The initiative builds on reductions in GP appointment costs, including a £20 cut in 2023 and an additional £10 subsidy introduced in May 2024.
Dr Gordon Callander of the Primary Care Body has welcomed the move, highlighting the growing role of other healthcare professionals in meeting patient needs.
The subsidy does not cover out-of-hours services or patients enrolled in the Health Access Scheme, who already have reduced fees.
In April, Windsor Medical Clinic became the first GP practice in Jersey to offer completely free face-to-face consultations for existing patients and up to 1,000 new ones. No other practices have followed suit so far.
We are planning to revisit our GP price comparisons soon. Look out for this in the coming months.
