Comparing the cost of sun cream in Jersey

As summer temperatures rise, so does demand for sun cream — but how much should you be paying to protect your skin?

We asked one of our volunteer Council Members to survey a range of local retailers this month to help you make informed choices.

Our findings highlight significant price differences between shops, with some brands up to £10 more expensive depending on where you shop.

Our advice

Sun protection is essential, but it doesn’t need to break the bank. With smart shopping, Islanders can find high-quality sun cream at affordable prices.

For families, Boots Soltan Kids and Superdrug Solait Kids+ offer excellent value. Those seeking longer-lasting formulas should look out for offers on P20 or try Altruist for effective protection at a lower price point.

We recommend comparing before you buy and making the most of loyalty schemes and multi-buy offers. We’ll continue monitoring prices to help you shop smarter and stay safe in the sun.

Here’s a breakdown of what we found, to help you get the best protection for your budget.

Boots and Superdrug consistently offered the widest variety and most competitive prices.

  • Boots offer trusted brands like Nivea, Piz Buin, Ambre Solaire, and their own Soltan range. Their Soltan Factor 50 (200ml) is just £5.50—excellent value. Boots Advantage Card holders can also get P20 Riemann (200ml) for £26.99, down from £29.99.
