Islanders are being advised to expect temporary delays to mail services as a result of ferry operator DFDS withdrawing its Tuesday evening sailing. As a result of the change, all mail arriving in or leaving Jersey on a Tuesday will be delayed by up to 24 hours.
The disruption is expected to continue until the ferry service is reinstated on 7 April.
Jersey Post said that this means:
- Mail posted on a Tuesday will not leave the Island until Wednesday.
- Mail that would normally arrive on Tuesday evening will now arrive on Wednesday morning.
Jersey Post has confirmed it is adjusting its operations to minimise disruption. Where possible, mail arriving on Wednesday will be delivered the same day, although some items may not reach households until Thursday.
Jersey Post said: “We’re doing everything we can to minimise the impact and continue to deliver mail as quickly as possible.”
The Jersey Consumer Council understands the frustration delays can cause, particularly for consumers awaiting important documents, bills or time-sensitive deliveries. We welcome assurances from Jersey Post that it is working to reduce the impact on customers and continue delivering mail as quickly as possible during this period.
Consumers are encouraged to plan ahead where possible and allow extra time for postal deliveries until normal ferry services resume.
