Before you next fill up your tank, check you're getting the best local fuel prices

To encourage Islanders to shop around for the best fuel prices while conflict in the Middle East continues to affect global energy markets, the Government is supporting our price comparison work, by promoting the latest prices.

We recently increased our weekly survey of unleaded fuel and diesel to twice a week, with surveys now being carried out on Mondays and Thursdays.

From this week, the Government of Jersey will be running adverts twice a week in the Jersey Evening Post and on Channel 103, advertising the cheapest fuel in Jersey.

They will also be sharing the prices in posts on the Government’s social media channels.

Fuel prices in Jersey are influenced by a range of international factors, including oil production levels, shipping costs and geopolitical tensions.

Disruption in major oil‑producing regions, particularly in the Middle East, can lead to volatility in wholesale prices, which may eventually be reflected in the prices paid by consumers.

While individual households cannot control these global pressures, being able to see and compare local prices clearly can make a meaningful difference when deciding when and where to buy fuel.

In a statement about the potential economic impact of the conflict in the Middle East, the Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham, said: “The Government of Jersey is taking active steps to manage any potential impacts on the Island arising from the conflict in the Middle East.

“Officials continue to work closely with UK counterparts, including the Ministry of Justice, to monitor global developments and assess any future implications for Jersey.

“Supply lines remain strong, and the Island has sufficient fuel supplies. At this stage, we do not anticipate any disruption to availability.

“Alongside this, we are working with the Jersey Consumer Council to support competition and transparent pricing, encouraging Islanders to compare fuel and food prices and make more informed purchasing choices.

“The Government has already taken targeted action, including expanding the Rural Support Scheme to help offset sharply rising fuel and fertiliser costs in the agriculture sector caused by the conflict in the Middle East, and stands ready to take further action if required.”
