Polls Explained
The Jersey Consumer Council occasionally runs opinion polls on our website, covering various topics.
These polls can be used to inform our research into consumer issues, or sometimes may just be a bit of fun!
Polls may allow multiple votes or occasionally be restricted to a single submission per IP address. If you cannot click on any of the available voting options, it may be that someone on your network has already answered that particular question.
Some questions may be shown on our website for longer than others. If we want to maximise the number of people who can answer that question, it may be shown for several weeks. At other times, the questions may only apply for a limited period of time. For example, "What is your favourite pancake topping?" would only really make sense on Shrove Tuesday.
Website polls will be used in conjunction with other research methods.
We don't see who voted for which option. No personal information is collected when you cast your vote, and there is no crossover with any social media accounts you may be logged into at the time. That's why we sometimes restrict polls to one entry per IP address. To be any more granular than that, we would need to collect personal information, which we wanted to avoid, in order to encourage as many people as possible to take part.
