The Pension Plus scheme is a Government-funded scheme to help lower income pensioners with the costs of dental, optical and chiropody services.
You can apply for the Pension Plus scheme if:
- You’ve reached pension age at the time of application
- You either have a Jersey Old Age Pension or have ‘entitled’ residential status
- You and your partner don’t pay Jersey income tax
- You and your partner have capital assets less than £30,000
On Pension Plus, you will be entitled to the following financial support:
Optical:
- Every two years, up to £40 towards an eye test
- Every two years, up to £120 towards new prescription glasses, lenses or contact lenses
Dental:
- Every year, up to £40 towards dental check-up
- Every two years, up to £700 towards dental treatments or dentures
Chiropody:
- Every year, up to £120 towards the cost of chiropody treatment from a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered chiropodist
To use Pension Plus, follow these steps:
- Make an appointment with your optician, dentist or chiropodist.
- Tell your practitioner that you are a Pension Plus member or tell the Pension Plus Scheme who your practitioners are.
- Check how much the services will cost.
- Ask your practitioner how much available benefit you have in Pension Plus and how much you will need to pay.
- Receive your treatment.
- Your practitioner will invoice the scheme up to your level of available benefit.
- Pay for any costs not covered by your benefit.
