Carl Walker
Carl Walker has led the Consumer Council as Chairman since April 2018.
Carl joined the Council following a 22-year journalism career in both the UK and Jersey, which led to him becoming Deputy Editor of the Jersey Evening Post.
Originally from Manchester, Carl began his career in the UK, before moving to the Island to take up a journalist position at the JEP. During his 18 years at the newspaper, he reported on all manner of news, sport, community, and investigations, and was responsible for creating the successful ‘Fair Play’ consumer page, which helped drive down the price of petrol and solved hundreds of Islanders’ consumer problems. Carl also had the idea for and launched the annual Pride of Jersey Awards, which are still running successfully today.
Since moving on from journalism, and alongside leading the Jersey Consumer Council, Carl has established his own media training and communications consultancy business, and compères for various local events. He is also Editor of the Grouville Gazette, and in 2025 was appointed as Communications and Marketing Director for Jersey Bulls.
A strong advocate for consumer rights, Carl is passionate about improving transparency, fairness, and accountability for people in Jersey, and for helping Islanders to resolve any consumer rights issues they may have.
